I’m taking six hours this semester of independent study. In order to finish my MFA, I need to complete “project(s).” So, this is what I’m planning on doing over the semester. The details below are what I sent my advisor as my classes and what I would be doing. I think it’s important to document, so I’ll be posting here twice a week! My post will including research, inspirations and why, ideas, book reviews, discoveries, and struggles. To keep things easy, I’ll post about Game Design on Mondays and Sound Design on Fridays! I may have a few other posts sprinkled in here and there, but I’ll try to be consistent.

I have a feeling this semester will be one wildly busy time and I CAN’T wait!!

3 hours Game Design

As a project based class, this is what I plan to complete this semester

  • Document processes using a blog
  • Create ten different game concepts/proposals (concepts to include different age groups, as well as board and video games)
  • Choosing from the ten, flush out three game documents with either “living documents” or “story bibles” –  Two short game concepts – a board game and a video game and  long game concepts

3 hours Sound Design

As a project based class, this is what I plan to complete this semester

  • Create ten “soundscapes” for paintings
  • Create a five 2-3-minute audio tracks for silent films
  • Work with other students to add sound to animations or video game demos
  • Document processes using a blog
