
Wendi Kavanaugh, PhD, serves as an Associate Director in an Honors College at a local university. A Dallas native, Wendi has built an academic career that blends creativity, History, and storytelling. She earned her Ph.D. in Humanities with a focus on History in Fall 2025, following an MFA in Sound & Game Design (2010), an MA in Photography (2004), and a BS in Radio & Television (2000).
Her research centers on U.S.–Latin American relations during World War II, with particular interest in the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs and the FBI. She also explores twentieth-century Mexican History, propaganda, and popular culture. In addition, her interests include Latin American travel writing, blending her love for History with a sense of exploration. Her teaching includes courses on espionage and intelligence history, in which she examines how covert operations, propaganda, and surveillance have shaped political narratives across the Americas. Outside of her academic life, Wendi seeks adventure through her hobbies of photography, travel, reading, and running.
