Without Losing Your Voice

AI is a hot topic at universities and colleges everywhere. In the past six months, I’ve heard a history professor say, “AI is evil,” while a sociology professor said she loved that her students could use it. Both are right. AI can take over your voice, and it’s very obvious when you do use AI. You lose any originality you have if AI writes for you.

AI can be a powerful tool when used correctly.

When I say create AI boundaries. I recommend that you never draft a full section of your writing (essays, notes, reviews, etc.). When revising, use your own voice and stay consistent. Unless you usually use words like “quite often,” “moreover,” “creativity,” and “momentum,” keep them out of your writing. If you aren’t very creative in your writing, that’s fine; you don’t have to be clever or creative, just ensure what you write is clear. AI can help you get started a bit faster, revise more efficiently, and support you when you need a boost. AI can’t be you; it can’t think for you, but it can assist you with the easy steps.
